Terms of reservations and regulations for the use of the Trail and its accommodation

RIGHT OF ACCESS TO
INTERNATIONAL APPALACHIAN TRAIL QUEBEC GR A1

One day hike

Access to the Trail is free for day hikes. That said, to contribute to the support of the Sentier and its organization, you are invited to make a donation on a voluntary basis using the button below.

All reservations must be paid in full on order. Payments by VISA, MASTERCARD and AMERICAN EXPRESS credit cards are accepted.

TERMS OF OCCUPANCY AND PRICING BY SECTIONS

Avignon, Matapedia Valley, Haute-Gaspésie and Côte-de-Gaspé

  • Platform $25, maximum 4 people per platform.

  • Shelter $25 per participant, can accommodate up to 4 people per shelter.

  • Refuge $35 per participant, can accommodate between 4 and 8 people per refuge.


Matane Wildlife Reserve

  • Platform $30, maximum 4 people per platform.

  • Shelter $30 per participant, can accommodate up to 4 people per shelter.


Gaspésie National Park and Forillon National Park

The prices are defined by the SÉPAQ and Parc Cananda, they vary according to the dates and the days of the week.

Great Crossing discount

The Grande Traversée discount is a 10% discount applied to SIA-QC accommodations, this excludes accommodations in Gaspésie National Park and Forillon National Park, you are eligible for it once one of the following criteria is met;

 

  • You have reserved more than 15 nights using our Réservotron reservation system.

  • You are the owner of one of the 2 section passports and you have at least 4 reservations in the Matane Wildlife Reserve.

  • You hold a Grande Traversée passport.

Requests for changes or cancellations must be made by the account holder of the reservation. Any current or planned deviation from the itinerary established in your reservation must be reported to the organization of the SIA-QC GR A1. You must contact one of our customer experience agents at 418 560-4642 to perform this type of operation.

Modification of SIA-QC GR A1 accommodation reservations

 

14 days before the start of the stay:

  • No charges


Less than 14 days before the start of the stay:

  • Modification greater than the initial amount - No charge

  • Modification less than the initial amount - fee of 10% of the amount less.

Cancellation of SIA QC GR A1 accommodation

More than 30 days before the start of the stay:

  • 100% refund


From 30 to 14 days before the start of the stay:

  • The SIA will keep the higher amount between a minimum of $30 or 30% of the invoice.


14 days or less before the start of the stay:

The SIA will keep the higher amount between a minimum of $50 or 30% of the invoice.

During the stay no refund granted.

Modification or cancellation of SÉPAQ accommodation
(Gaspésie National Park)

Changing or Canceling Parks Canada Accommodation
(Forillon National Park)

Authorization to access the International Appalachian Trail – Quebec GR A1

Your SIA-QC GR A1 accommodation reservation is subject to proof of reservation and authorization to access the campsites listed there. You must therefore have it with you throughout your presence on the Path.

Arrival and departure

The hiker can occupy his accommodation site from 3:00 p.m. and must have left it no later than 10:00 a.m. on the day of his departure.

Use of telecommunications device

For security reasons and sporadic validation of your itinerary, a cell phone or satellite communication device is mandatory for your long-distance hiking trips on the International Appalachian Trail Quebec GR A1.

For cell phones, the network is generally available at the highest peaks and Wi-Fi is available at several locations in cities and towns.

Pets

Pets are allowed on the SIA-QC GR A1. You must keep them on a leash at all times.

 

However, their presence is prohibited in certain sectors of Parc national de la Gaspésie. Please click here for more details on this.

Materials needed

You must bring your mattress, sleeping bag, camping stove, matches, flashlight, bowls and utensils, food, toilet paper and first aid kit.

Water points

A water point is generally located near each SIA-QC GR A1 campsite. That said, the water may not be safe to drink, so it is strongly recommended that it be treated or boiled before consumption. Moreover, in times of drought, some water points can be dry and the same is true for several watercourses. As a hiker, you need to plan ahead when it comes to managing your water. Refer to the back of the SIA-QC GR A1 topographic maps, the Le Compagnon guide or the FarOut app for more details on water locations.

RESPECT THE ENVIRONMENT

The conservation of the natural environment is everyone's business. To this end, it is prohibited:

  • to kill, capture, injure, molest, harass, feed or tame an animal;

  • to throw garbage elsewhere than in the containers provided for this purpose or to burn garbage in the campfire;

  • to cut down, damage, remove or introduce a tree, shrub or herbaceous plant or part thereof;

  • leaving dishes or food lying around. Out of respect for wildlife, it is important to store food in the car or in the facilities provided for this purpose.

Curfew and tranquility of the place

At all times, hikers must avoid making excessive noise and respect the tranquility of the area.

Lights

Open fires are prohibited at all times on long hiking trails as well as near accommodation areas. Campfires or cooking fires are permitted only in places set up for this purpose and must be extinguished before bedtime. At all times, these must be kept under the supervision of a responsible person.

Cleanliness and equipment breakdown

At all times, hikers must leave the place they occupy and the equipment they use in good and clean condition.

Camping on the International Appalachian Trail Quebec GR A1

Unless there are serious injuries or an emergency situation, it is forbidden to camp outside the SIA-QC GR A1 campsites.
